IIT Delhi and AIIMS Launch AI Centre for Faster Medical Diagnosis
India has taken a major leap in integrating artificial intelligence into healthcare. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi have jointly launched a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for AI in Healthcare.
The center will focus on developing AI-powered models to assist doctors in making faster and more accurate diagnoses. Early prototypes are being trained to analyze medical images such as X-rays and CT scans, with the goal of supporting medical professionals in both urban and rural hospitals.
How AI Can Transform Rural Healthcare
One of the biggest challenges in India’s healthcare system is the shortage of specialists in rural regions. By enabling AI to detect diseases early and reduce diagnostic time, this collaboration could significantly improve access to quality care in underserved areas.
Backed by substantial government funding, this project is not just a short-term innovation but a long-term investment in India’s healthcare future. If successful, the AI system could set a benchmark for digital healthcare tools worldwide.
